February 21, 2013 — Aronson LLC joined The Howard County Chamber of Commerce (HCCC) and fellow members of the GovConnects Advisory Council to celebrate the launch of a new business-to-government initiative on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. GovConnects will help businesses benefit from significant growth in the cyber security industry and other related federal contracting opportunities.

“Business is generated by the physical presence of U.S. Cyber Command, NSA, and defense contractors in and around Howard County,” said Maureen Thomas, the newly-appointed Executive Director of GovConnects. “Businesses in this region need a resource for specialized training and a forum for networking focused specifically on this niche.  GovConnects will meet this need by providing targeted events and current information guided by experienced contracting participants.”

Planning is underway for a training event in April and targeted networking opportunities in summer 2013. GovConnects will also offer leadership and expertise to the planning of HCCC’s annual Cyber Conference on May 29 at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Previous conferences have drawn 350 participants to hear expert speakers from government and industry and engage in targeted match-up opportunities.

The launch event, hosted by Advisory Council member Corporate Office Properties Trust, brought together GovConnects participants, Chamber leaders, as well as area businesses, government advisors, and university research organizations interested in supporting the growth and advancement of GovConnects.

“We are very proud to be part of the GovConnects Advisory Council,” remarked Aronson Partner Mike Muscatello.  “As part of our ongoing commitment to serving the government contracting community at large, we see this as a great opportunity to help companies take advantage of the significant advantages in the federal sales market.  This initiative is led by organizations that have a truly unique knowledge base and a wealth of industry expertise.”

Aronson partners Lexy Kessler, Mike Muscatello, Steve Swales, and Stephen White all attended the launch event.
