On July 29, 2020, the Montgomery County Council announced the formal launch of the “Reopen Montgomery Grant Program.” The program has been appropriated $14M to assist in reimbursing Montgomery County businesses for “expenses incurred to comply with State and County reopening requirements.” Grants of up to $5,000 per applicant are available for businesses who are solely located in Montgomery County, or if you have locations outside of the County, whose Montgomery County locations account for more than 50% of its employees or more than 50% of the total gross sales.
To be eligible to apply, applicants must employ 100 or fewer full-time equivalents and have not already received other financial assistance from the County. Additionally, a list of allowable expenses is available. The list features the types of expenses that may be reimbursed between March 16, 2020, and the 30 days following the date the County begins Phase 3 reopening. Allowable expenses include items such as PPE, contactless point of sale, cleaning supplies, outdoor furniture and more. Applications are now open.
